A Nice Day For A White Wedding

After fending off a killer migraine yesterday, I’m finally feeling close to human again. I swear, it was like an alien was trying to soldier through the lobes in my brain and cut into my skull using a dull knife. (What a visual!) Needless to say, it was tres painful. I blame it on the geography—more specifically, the fact that over the past four weeks, I’ve been in five different states and every time zone that exists in these here United States. My body chemistry is waaaaay off and while my travels were waaaaay worth the internal strife, truth be told, I’m happy to be home for the next three weeks—until I hoof it back to Cleveland to visit with my fam and participate in yet another wedding. This time it’s my bestie Lesley, who I’ve known since I was two, and I’m the maid of honor. Not too shabby!

Considering I’ve been gone from the blogsphere for a while, I thought I’d take you through a lil’ tour of my travels. Feel free to go to the kitchen and grab a snack ’cause this could take a while. Just kidding—sort of!

Since the keyboard cat is sort of out of the bag, my initial departure from L.A. was to join up with the bestest band evs—Paramore!!—and follow them for a couple days as part of an upcoming Alternative Press story written by yours truly. It’s the first thing I’ve scribbled for the mag I left my post as managing editor back in March 2008 and I was nervous beyond belief; thankfully, the band went out of their way to make me feel like a part of the Para-crew.

After I came home from Para-tour, I slaved over my digital recorder for what seemed like days—prolly because it was, like, days. Writing the piece was tons of fun but I have a tendency to place an anvil-sized amount of pressure on myself to make my stories awesome so it’s always a tedious experience. Now that everything is off to the printer and I can finally breathe a sigh of relief, I’m really happy with the story and hope you are too! (“You” being the handful of peeps who actually read this silly thing. Oof! We totes need to change that.)

Almost immediately after I emailed my Para-wesomeness away to my AP editors Jason Pettigrew and Rachel Lux, I got my Paul Frank suitcases out of the closet because it was time to hit the road again. This time, I was heading to Ithaca, NY, for my bestie Jessica’s wedding. I went out a couple days early to fulfill my bridesmaid duties and it was so rad to spend some last minute single-gal time with her.

Jessica and Ed are currently maxin’ and relaxin’ on the beaches of Cancun. They said they’re at some to-die-for, all-inclusive resort, but I wouldn’t doubt that they’re probably hitting Senor Frogs at night for the wet T-shirt and hard body contests. Who am I to judge? As long as they’re having fun, pass the beeker shots!

Like I said, I’m home for three weeks before hoofing it to my final wedding of the summer. I almost don’t know what to do with myself because that’s my longest stretch in L.A. since May. Yikes! If you know me at all, I’ll probably be partaking in long bouts of hermitage interspersed by various rock shows. This weekend, I’ll be slaving away on the proposal for book three. I’m SO excited about it and as soon as it’s a lil’ more solidified, I’ll spill the deets. Swears! I’m also looking forward to interviewing Hanson sometime in the next two weeks. Yeah, you heard me right. Mother-effing HANSON!!! Get into it, mmmmm-bitches!

Okay, I think my fingers are about to fall off from this massive update. More soon!! Also, if you’re not already following me on Twitter, what are you waiting for?? You can find me at http://twitter.com/redpatterndress. I’m funny, I update often and I love to give away free shit. It’s true!
